Face Paint Camp

When the message asked, "Could you be an assistant for Face Paint Camp?", her enthusiastic answer was, "Yes!"

Of course yes.

Combine faceprint, kids, and Alison Kenyon for instant magic. The Face Painting Camp at the Center for the Arts gave attendees the chance to learn from an amazing artist! And of course Alison needed to demonstrate techniques. So each day I got to pick up a newly decorated Anika!

Kids learned paint brush techniques, then how to blend colors with sponges. They added lines for effects.

Anika got to be the Demonstration Canvas for everyone to see each step of the process before they practiced on one another, or on their arms or legs.. Which was so fun for me every day when I arrived for pickup.

Anika's Jellyfish

Anika's Jellyfish

The fascinating thing about the painting with kids was, when I picked up, they had practiced on themselves or each other. When finished, they washed it off and started over.

That sense of transience, that nothing gets framed or hung on the wall or saved for the future, gave them a sense of freedom. For once, they didn't have to worry about perfectly formed shapes. Besides, painting on people is very different from flat canvases.

Their arms and legs would be decorated with swirls and whorls and butterflies. Or a jellyfish.

These kids are going to be the best at creating magic for others after the week of learning amazing tricks and tools.

They learned about warm and cool colors. Using light and dark for shading. Along with drawing ideas. Anika gave camp glowing reviews, as both an attendee and as an Assistant.

Watch for any chance to join a camp or workshop with Alison. She's incredibly generous sharing a love for art and the creative process. Everyone was inspired and empowered. And ready to paint at the next party or gathering. What a treat, to share color and transformation throughout the world.

Alison also does storytelling art-paint for tradeshows and events. You can book her to show off your visions/brand/company. Plenty of appreciative attention. Watching the painting come together is fascinating!

Studies in cool and warm colors. Which Chewbacca obviously appreciated :)

And a couple of animated versions for fun :)

Anika set the bar high for her career path. When you start as an Assistant at Face Paint Camp, where will she go from here? I'm so excited to document the journey!
