10 on 10 for February

How do we Superbowl? We gather in the woods of Northern California. We make tasty treats like Asian salsa and cheesy-chicken dip and meatballs and bacon-wrapped shrimp. Set up a spread in my brother and sister-in-law's garage. The neighborhood dogs wander over to play with visiting puppies.

Our puppy loves this big dog that visits from the neighbor's house. The big dog's name is Spike. He is the sweetest, gentlest giant. He just loves the little dogs!

Ian took it upon himself to referee the puppy-bowl. When Chewbacca (our puppy) started following Spike up the driveway, Ian carried him back to the party. Chewie appreciated the rescue :).

Kids soon abandoned the game for their own games in the woods. Ian figured out he could flip a bottle cap just as well as he could flip a coin. He practiced flipping and catching. Apparently, the result determined if he was  hillbilly or not...

Which led to the questions, "What's a hillbilly, Mom?"

Well... hmmm.... moving on.

To the back of one of my brother's aging pickups which became a perfect prop for their zombie apocalypse game. And a great photoshoot stage. Anika loved posing! She wore the ears to support the Panthers. Because the kids thought the Panthers had good colors. And were pretty in nature. I love how kids choose teams.

The truck became base... Though I'm not quite sure which side was zombies. Or hillbillies. Or both?

Then the wind kicked up and even zombies need to pose when a perfect breeze kicks up...

Moments later she resumed hissing at her attacker :)

The game turned to hide-and-seek...

While the grown ups watched the big game in the garage.

Ian befriended another neighborhood dog.

Yet their dog won the puppy bowl :). We all went home with fantastic memories of game day. Even if their team didn't win.

We look forward to next year's Superbowl!

I added one extra to my 10 on 10 collection to show at least a token of the game on screen :). Their games were way more fun to photograph!
